All four seasons have beauty, but winter is at the bottom of my list. I love a nice dry snow for a couple of days. The freezing rain, sleet and ice that causes so much damage is why winter makes the bottom of my list.
There are at least a couple of things that I do in winter that I look forward to. I enjoy working jigsaw puzzles and wintertime is the best season for me to do that. The other seasons I can spend more time outside which I enjoy very much.
One of my favorite meals I have mostly in the winter to me just seems to fit as a cold weather meal. I have fixed the meal in early spring and late fall, it just isn’t the same as having it in the winter.
There is just nothing better than a cast iron skillet to help me prepare that delicious meal. I have had the skillet for over fifty years. Nothing cooks cornbread better than an cast iron skillet, I also fry potatoes in it.
Give me some pinto beans or purple hull peas, fried potatoes, cornbread, sliced tomato and a big slice of onion and I am in food heaven.
There are many other things cast iron skillets can be used for in cooking. Do you use cast iron skillets or pots?
