This and That

The calendar shows today to be the first day of summer. Here at my place summer apparently didn’t know that and it arrived before its appointed time. Since its triple digit temperatures arrived early do I dare to hope they are not here for an extended stay?

Since it is too hot to spend much time outside, I have had plenty of thinking time. Unfortunately, not much of that time has been spent thinking about doing much inside.

I have spent some time exercising but not enough. My sister and some of my blogging friends put me to shame. They are encouraging me to get myself up and get going more though. I appreciate them sharing with me all they do so that I get motivated at times to do more.

Thinking has been a large part of my waking hours. A smorgasbord of thoughts. Some of the thoughts are of ones I know or know of that are suffering that brings me to pause and say a prayer for them. Thoughts that remind me there are people whose trials make anything I go through trivial.

My thoughts and prayers are with those who are suffering in any way. I pray your needs will be met and you are blessed tremendously.

  1. Bless you Mags, for having others in your thoughts and prayers. I think that is one (very important) way that we can serve others in our retirement. πŸ’ž

    • Thank you, Ian for your kind words. I am blessed in many ways every day. Blessings to you and your family.

  2. I can relate to your post, Sis. I’m prone to diving inside my thoughts when I should be diving into something productive. πŸ™‚ The weather person held dire news this first day of summer–triple digits through next week! OUCH! Yes, there are so many folks who need prayers. I hold all in my daily prayers. Sending you and Chancy Man some huge hugs and love. Thank you for the prayers and blessings Sweet Sis. ❀ ❀

    • We are so much alike I have to wonder if we are related somehow. πŸ™‚ I know we are sisters of the heart, but we have so much in common we could be biological sisters or at least cousins. Your weather news is like ours. Triple digits with humidity making the triple digits higher. I know you pray for me and Chancy and your prayers are felt and much appreciated. We send all of you tons of hugs and love. ❀ ❀

      • I have an idea that we are related, Sis. My family is spread out in your area. πŸ™‚ We are definitely sisters of the heart. Hugs and love ❀ ❀

  3. Central California will be in the triple digits the rest of the week. That means I water the yards early in the morning. I do all my errands and chores by noon. The fans run all day, and the AC will come on when the indoor temperature hits 79 degrees. I will sit on the couch and read in the afternoon. All of our meals will be light and as cool as possible. It’s the best I can do.

    • You have a great plan. We are in for triple digits too and with the humidity factored in it is quite hot. They mowed my yard today so I will be out early in the morning to water. Thank you for reading and commenting. Enjoy your reading.

  4. Nice post Mags. I pray daily for others. I am too busy to sit – so although it is hot we have about 50 to 60 galls of blueberries to pick in the coming weeks. Plus, I hade to push mow around all the blueberry bushes, this morning – so I could see if a snake might be under my feet as I picked. Can’t say at my age that I like either of these chores, but they keep me moving.

    • Thank you Peggy for reading and commenting. I love blueberries but I have never had fresh home grown ones, they must be mouth watering delicious. I am glad you are keeping an eye out for snakes. We do need to do all we can to keep moving as we get into our golden years. I enjoyed mowing my yard until shoulder injuries put a stop to that. I still enjoy doing what I can in my yard. Enjoy some blueberries for me.

  5. Thank you, Mags, for sending these thoughts out to others. It is amazing how a simple turn of words can be helpful, to both the giver and the receiver. I will say that since I have been consistently exercising for the last 10 days that I am indeed feeling a lot better, sleeping better, and in a much better mood. It is really hot here, too, but it is the humidity that gets me. I could tolerate the triple digits in TX easier due to lack of humidity where we lived. It was only humid while the raindrops were actually falling and they evaporated so quickly, it never lasted very long!

My only question is why is that woman wearing a bulky sweater and then holding a fan up to her face? Is that weight lifting for sissies? Happy Tuesday! πŸ™‚

    • You are welcome and thanks for reading and commenting. The humidity is what gets to me too.

LOL that was the only pic I could find that would work. I had not even noticed what she had on.

You doing so well on your exercising has been one of the things that is encouraging me to do better.
