Beautiful Mornings

The last two mornings Chancy and I woke before daylight. I completed the usual inside morning chores and by that time the sun was coming up over the mountain.

The weather was perfect for getting out and doing some things I had been wanting to do. Low humidity and temperature in the 50’s comfortable to do outside work.

As some of you already know my little Chancy man loves to dig. When he was a puppy, I picked a spot in the corner of the yard and taught him to do his digging there. We called it “Chancy’s Garden”. When we worked in the yard, I would tell him to go dig in his garden and he would run to it and dig as fast as he could.

He nor I are spring chickens for sure but we both can still get around and enjoy doing some work outside I am most grateful for us being able to still do that.

Yesterday morning I started pruning some shrubs. Chancy stayed with me because he loves to help when limbs are being cut. After that we walked around our large backyard for a while.

This morning while I was doing more pruning, picking up rocks, and raking up some pine needles Chancy worked in his garden. He was so proud of himself, he barked for me to go see the roots he had dug up. I went to see and let him know he was a good boy and did an excellent job. Roots are his favorite thing to dig up. He pulls and pulls on them until he can break them or pull them out of the ground and put them in a pile.

The cooler weather and being able to get outside and do something has lifted my spirits. I have also done some work inside. I will get more done when the weather stripping for the entry doors arrives and I can get the doors ready for winter weather, I finished getting the windows ready a couple of days ago.

It felt so good to be outside in the cool temperature and feeling the breeze as I worked.

Prayers for all in the path of the hurricane.

  1. What a smart little dog, your Chancy is! Molly is always trying to help me do something but then there is no room for me to get to what I am trying to do. I will have to try to teach her to do something in her own corner of the yard. Good for you getting ready for winter. 👍🏻 I was looking at our bedroom windows this week. We should get to work weatherproofing or winter will be here before we are ready. Take care and have a great weekend, Mags. 💞

    1. Winter always gets here before I am ready, it is not my favorite season for sure. Your first sentence gave me a giggle. I can see Molly taking up a lot of space where you are trying to get something done and she wants to help. Hope your day goes well, Anne.

  2. You and Chancy make a good garden team. Chancy seems to be a great companion for you. Wasn’t that great weather this week just heavenly. I was outside doing things and loving every minute. It certainly does lift one’s mood and bring some joy to our lives.

    1. Chancy is my little buddy, can’t imagine not having him with me. Yes, the weather has been perfect for getting out and getting things done. I am happy you got to get out and do things and enjoy it. It certainly has lifted my mood. Have a great weekend Peggy. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

  3. Mags, I am glad to hear you are feeling better. I find that being outside doing tasks helps me with mood. It is really hard not to get down in the dumps these days with things as they are, but it helps me to be outside when it is nice and do things where I can see some changed results. I love that Chancy digs up roots–wonder if he could control kudzu roots? 😀
That was really a fun read, as I just came in from planting some new fall flowers and cleaning up a little more around the front walk. Have a good rest of your day, and thanks for thinking of those in Ian’s path. They have been on my mind, too. I suspect some of the excessive wind we have had the last two days are because of the hurricane. Any time one made landfall on the Gulf coast, we had high winds even this far north.

    1. I love being outside. After I put out this post I went out and washed the dust off my car. We need rain badly and it is so dusty here. I hope you will show photos of the flowers you planted. I don’t know about Chancy keeping any roots under control, but I can tell you if it is a root and he has the strength he will dig them up. 🙂 Hope you have a wonderful day. I enjoyed your comment.

    1. I agree there is noting like being outside with nature. I too wish you could do yard work, I know how much you enjoyed it when you could. I washed the car after putting out this post so by late afternoon I was pooped. I am glad my blog brightened your day. We thank you for the huge hugs and nose kisses for Chancy Man.
