Mind body and spirit

Believe me when I say that there are many more positive things in my life than negative. Lately though my mind, body and spirit are not in sync. It has been said “Where there is a will there is a way” and I believe that so I am not giving up.

From an early age I enjoyed taking pictures and had a camera near at hand no matter where I was. I had blogs where I shared the photos that I took.

We had several dogs and I had a blog where I shared photos of them and told of fun and interesting things that they did. Now it is only me and little Chancy, he is old like me and mostly what he does is sleep. We do take walks and play fetch still, but he no longer does most of the cute and funny things he did in the past.

There was a time we had many cats so I started a cat blog. I shared their stories of how they came to live with us, photos and videos of them doing cute and funny things. The last cat passed away a little over three years ago.

For several years I had a blog where I shared photos I took of wildlife, mostly birds. For a few reasons that I won’t go in to I no longer feed wildlife and birds.

Picking up a camera and getting a nice picture of anything in nature I enjoyed in times past. Now because of arthritic hands I can no longer hold a camera steady. Tripods work for some people but I like to see something and quickly get a good shot of it before it moves or goes away. I never enjoyed using a tripod.

A subject will pop into my mind now and then, but by the time I get to the computer I can’t think of anything to say on that subject. My body does not cooperate with me on some things I would like to do and could blog about.

I can move furniture by scooting it using my knees and hips. I can clean house, wash dishes, take out the trash and clean windows. Oh, and I can always manage to get a good afternoon nap, but who wants to read about that? LOL

So I am waiting for the day when my mind, body and spirit get in sync and I will have something going on that will be interesting to write about on my blog. Until then I will not give up and will keep enjoying visiting and reading other peoples blog posts.

    • You are right about getting older, but I will keep going and doing. Being active is something I am thankful to still be able to do. The last few days have been some of the best I have had in awhile. Hugs and I am glad you enjoy my posts. You have taught me things I never knew about food and your recipes are great and easy to prepare. Thank you for sharing all that you do.

  1. I enjoy reading this blog and do not find it at all boring! Keep writing! You have quite the following! And, I am glad you can still do windows. If you want, I have many that need washing!

  2. Way to go Mags. “Never give up” has always been my motto. I still take pictures, but sometimes holding a camera still is hard to do. I do not like tripods either. Enhoyed reading your post. Hope you get in sync soon.

      • Hi Mags! My husband has had, the first of two surgeries on his shoulder, so I have been a bit more busy than usual. It was nice to hear from you. Thank you!

        • I can understand that. Hoping your husband heals well and quickly. I have had one shoulder surgery so I know how that goes. Stay well and safe.

  3. Arthritis plagues us all at this age so you have a lot of sympathy. Out of all the Ritis boys Arthur was always the worst so if would be nice if we could avoid him wouldn’t it? Try and keep up with your photography anyway even if it pains as it is a good hobby and therapeutic.

    • Those Ritis boys get me on my last nerve sometimes. I hope to find something I can take pictures of some time that will not require me to be in a hurry and hopefully I can get some shots worth keeping and maybe sharing. I try to keep moving and doing pain and all. I know if I don’t it will only get worse.

  4. Hello Mags! I agree with everything everyone here has said! We all reach that point with blogging. It’s better not to feel stressed about what to write, or how often to write, but rather, to write when you are ready to do so. πŸ™‚ Hang in there! I loved all your stories and photos, and know that there is more there, that you will be inspired to share when the time is right! πŸ™‚ ❀

    • Thank you Anita for being a faithful follower of my blogs and the encouragement. I will hang in and keep hoping. ❀

    • I figure when it is time I will be ready and will enjoy blogging once again. Thank you for reminding me to write when I feel like it and enjoy what I do.

  5. I have backed way down on new posts too. I also think of a topic but forget it by the time I am at my computer. I have started taking classes at the local senior center. Mostly about living safely and planning ahead. Have you tried some free college classes or is there a senior center near you? They have classes on Spanish, water color, photography and go on field trips too. Maybe an outing or two would help?

    • It is not that I don’t have something to do and enjoy my life. I just cannot get back into blogging like I want to. What I do that keeps me busy is not something that would make an interesting blog post. Thank you for the suggestions. You are sweet to try to help.

  6. I hear you, Mags. Every time I think about doing that little 30 minute road trip, Willie sings in my ear, “Not today.” 😎 I do not write any thing close to, nor take photos of what I used to blog about. I believe it is a combination of both the aftereffects (and still ongoing effects) of the pandemic, as well as the process of slowing down that aging brings. I do not intend to give up either, and hope and trust is the essential quality that helps me keep going in hard times. We bring what we can, share what we can, and contribute to others through our presence. I for one, deeply appreciate you when you visit my blog and leave a comment. It makes me feel valued, and I value you and your presence. Hang on and absolutely, keep right on truckin’!
